Crawford County commissioners voted Friday to send out for bids for county auditing services.

“I’ll send letters to everybody in Crawford County to let them know we’re seeking bids,” said Jim Emerson, county counselor.

Commissioner Carl Wood requested that bids include the option of a department audit.

“I’m not saying there’s anything wrong going on anywhere, but people need to know everything is above board,” he said.

In February 2012 the commissioners approved a one-year contract for the 2011 audit to Monica R. Kellogg, CPA, LLC, Pittsburg, with the option of two more years.

In future business, commissioners will  have a work session  at 9 a.m. Feb. 12 to discuss future staffing for the Road and Bridge Department with Jim Emerson, county counselor, and Marla Beckcom of the department.  Another work session is scheduled at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 15 with Freightliner to discuss dump truck specifications.

Crawford County Courthouse will be closed Feb. 18 in observance of  Presidents Day.

The Springfield Weather Service will present a Weather Watch Training Session at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium, and several county employees will be participating.

“We’ve got employees working outside anyway, and they can also serve the public by being trained as storm spotters,” Wood said.
