With Frontenac Homecoming closing in, Frontenac City Council members passed a series of issues relating to the event.
First, city council members passed through Cereal Malt Beverage licenses for Bootlegger’s and Pickled Pete’s, which will serve 3.2 beer during the festival. Then, they passed a resolution allowing for the consumption of alcohol on designated city streets during the Frontenac Homecoming Street Dance.
Finally, council members approved a resolution that will close down McKay Street from Crawford to Cayuga for Homecoming, which will run from June 6-8.
Six of the seven council members attended the meeting. Linda Grilz was absent. In other business, Frontenac City Council members:
• approved Mike Farrington’s proposals for the construction of City Hall, the police and fire departments and public works. Council members lauded the work of Farrington, who works for Crossland Construction, and the fact that he tapped largely local bidders to help with the project.
The low bid for everything totaled at $1,166,070, which is under the original estimate of $1.2 million.
• approved an ordinance providing for the registration and keeping of dogs within Frontenac city limits. Council members approved taking measures against dogs running at large at the last meeting, but had yet to approve a specific ordinance, which came Monday. The ordinance is in reference to a dog attack suffered by a pair of Frontenac residents walking their dog more than a month ago.
