PITTSBURG —

Over the last year, Crawford County officials and surrounding cities have been drafting an All Hazard Mitigation Plan and now seek public comment and review.
This plan is intended to identify strategies to reduce the potential loss of life, human suffering, and loss of property from manmade or natural disasters, such as floods, fires, snow and ice storms, tornadoes, power outages, and public health emergencies.
Residents of Crawford County are invited to attend a meeting to examine the draft plan and provide comments. A public meeting will be held at the Town Hall in Frontenac on Tuesday. Ten-minute presentations about the plan will be held at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Residents will have the opportunity to view the results of a hazard analysis for Crawford County for flood, tornado, extreme temperatures, and winter storms. An exhibit on preparing an emergency kit for individuals and families will also be available. At each session, there will be a drawing for a family “Ready Kit” to be used in an emergency. Children are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
To view a paper copy of the plan after the meeting, persons may visit the Pittsburg Public Library.
For further information, persons may call Ron Albertini at 235-0857.
