On Wednesday afternoon, the Crawford County Attorney’s office filed charges on 11 Seneca (Mo.) High School football players in relation to an incident that occurred last month at a football camp at Pittsburg State University.

Charges on a 12th are pending additional information.

Crawford County Attorney Michael Gayoso said Wednesday that his office filed a total of 39 felony charges and five misdemeanor charges. Of those, eight of the students have been charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated battery. Three of the student-athletes have been charged with misdemeanor battery.

“They charges have been sent for approval of the court and we are hoping that is done in the next couple of days,” Gayoso said.

One of the student-athletes have been charged with eight separate felony charges. Gayoso said that there is another players that has been charged with seven counts.

The incident stems from a June football camp at Pitt State where freshman football players from Seneca (Mo.) High School alleged they were “hazed” by upperclassmen from the same school.
