Dear Editor,
Who represents us in Topeka is important. It makes a difference whether our schools get the support they need to educate our children well. It makes a difference whether Highway 69 is adequately funded and completed to support local businesses. And it makes a difference in the direction Kansas goes; either toward steady growth and progress or toward a very uncertain experiment in tax policy.
The only reasonable choice is Julie Menghini for State Representative. Julie’s experience shows that she knows how to get things done for the benefit of Pittsburg and its citizens. She has consistently supported education at all levels, including PSU, the largest employer in Pittsburg. She helped design and helped pass the comprehensive transportation plan, which will support 175,000 jobs over its lifespan. She has worked toward a balanced tax policy, something that helps keep property taxes low. And she has shown the ability to work with legislators of both parties, the mark of an effective representative.
With outside groups spending large sums of money to influence our local election, it is important to think carefully about our vote. Outside groups have no idea who would best represent Pittsburg. The citizens of Pittsburg do know. Julie grew up here, went to school here, and has proven her loyalty to Pittsburg, and she and her family shop at local businesses, they pay local taxes, and her kids go to local schools.
Julie Menghini is clearly the best choice for State Representative for Pittsburg.
