Kansas has had a proud history of moderate Republicans and Democrats working together. Those days are now at imminent risk of disappearing and being replaced with a far-right, extremist political agenda that has little regard for the rights and needs of average citizens.

In a shameless power grab, using distortions, secrecy, voter suppression and endless cash supplies from unknown wealthy donors, the extremists are attempting to seize total control of our state.

How sad it was to see the very respectable Republican Senator Bob Marshall lose in the primary after being savagely attacked by these extremists, and replaced with Mr. Laturner to have one more “yes man” in the state senate. All-out attacks were made statewide to blacken the name of any moderate Republican who dared to not vote with them 100 percent of the time.

As we saw in the primaries, expect a plethora of unfair, vicious attacks toward the good candidates who are running against these extremists. Many of these attacks will attempt to confuse and manipulate pro-life voters, who are unaware that the laws the extremists seek are so draconian that no exceptions would even be made to save the life of the mother.

Moderate Republicans and Democrats alike should take a stand and once more support candidates who will work together with mutual respect and dignity for the good of all Kansans.
