Fresh off their first girl’s team state title in school history, the St. Mary’s Colgan softball team mounted additional accolades on Thursday.
The Panthers, who defeated Spearville to capture the Class 2-1A State Softball tournament title, placed four players on the All-Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League squad, which was released Thursday.
Seniors Annie Dellasega (INF), Allison McCormick (INF), Ashley Werner (C) and junior Maggie Sloan (OUT) earned first-team nods. Co-league champions Riverton, who captured the Class 3A state title, earned three first-team selections. Senior Stormi Bond (INF) was placed on the first team along with junior Cheslyn Mitchell (OUT) and senior pitcher Haleigh Sills (P). Girard senior BryAnna Burkes (OUT) and junior Kenzie Dunlap (P) was placed on the first team along with Frontenac senior Emily Barto (P) and Southeast senior Lauren Thompson (INF).
Colgan first-year head coach Tom Kirkland was named the league’s co-coach of the year with Frontenac’s Cassie Buche.
