Three GHS students attended District Band and Choir at Labette County High School in Altamont Dec. 1.

Elizabeth Crumpacker and Chanel Jackson had a vocal audition at Chanute Nov. 3 to participate in the group.

As members of the District Choir, Ms. Crumpacker and Ms. Jackson are eligible to audition for All-State Choir. Their auditions for District will also function as their state auditions.

Regarding District Choir, senior Chanel Jackson said, “I am sad and happy because it was my first and last District experience.”

Freshman Elizabeth Crumpacker said, “I was glad to have the experience and hope to do it again in the future.”

Bethany Baker also auditioned at Chanute Nov. 3 and was selected as fourth chair of the District Band.

By placing in the District Band, Ms. Baker also has the opportunity to audition for the All-State Band and will travel to Salina to do so Jan. 5.

“It was fun to work with a different group of musicians and to play more challenging music,” Ms. Baker said.
