SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The Tidal Wave took first in the recent Springdale Mid America Youth Basketball (MAYB) tournament, played in the All Stars Sports Arena, which features six basketball courts, four volleyball courts and two indoor soccer-flag football fields.
The Tidal Wave, 17-10 on the season, won all five of its games in Springdale, defeating the Arkansas Thunder, Springadle, Gravette, the Missouri Fire and the Missouri Rage for the crown.
Frontenac players Natalie Coomes, Bailey Flora, Ryleigh McCartney and Haley Wilson teamed with Bethanne Elliott (Pittsburg), Devin Cosper (Coffeyville), Molli Cooper (Seneca) and Brenlee McPherson (Carl Junction) in Arkansas.
The Tidal Wave ends its season in the MAYB National Tournament Aug. 2-5 in Oklahoma City. Over 650 teams competed in last year’s event. There will be only one tournament bracket and a four-game guarantee.
