Colgan softball sweeps Anderson County
The St. Mary’s Colgan softball team boosted its record to 7-1 on the season with a 10-0 and 10-5 sweep of Anderson County on Thursday.
In the first game, Jordan Fleming went 3-for-4 with a triple and RBI. Bridget Hughes smashed a two-run home run. Amanda McBride and Abby O’Brien added 3-5 and 3-4 games, respectively.
Morgan Gilmore struck out 10 and Colgan picked up 14 hits in a six-inning game.
Anderson County scored four first-inning runs but Colgan scored 10 of the next 11 runs in the contest. Gilmore supported herself with a 2-for-4 night and four RBI. Sydney Beck and Katie Kolarik each hit 2-4, Beck two doubles. Gilmore earned a win by allowing four hits and striking out 13.
Colgan plays Liberal (Mo.) on the road today and Jasper (Mo.) at home on Monday, concluding its nonconference schedule.
Man gets hole in one at Crestwood Country Club
Tyler Casey aced Hole No. 5 at Crestwood Country Club on Wednesday, utilizing a 6-iron on the 167-yard, par-3 hole. Todd Loveland, Bill Bennett, Adam Hanson and Chris Barone witnessed this ace.
