According to her Facebook page, former GOP vice presidential nominee and Alaska governor Sarah Palin has endorsed U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt for the U.S. Senate.
In her posting, she said that Tiahrt was “a commonsense conservative who has never voted for a tax increase.” She also cited his support for gun rights and what she called his “pro-family” stances.
“Thank you Sarah for joining my fight to restore responsibility within our government,” Tiahrt responded on his Facebook page.
Chris Harris, communications director with PoliticalCorrection.org, a project of Media Matters Action Network and former communications director for the Kansas Democratic Party was not convinced that Palin’s endorsement would help Tiahrt.
“Palin is a very polarizing figure who only appeals to a tiny sliver of the electorate. That miniscule slice of voters are already in Tiahrt’s camp,” Harris said. “If there’s anything that could send Kansas City-area moderate voters to the Moran campaign, Palin endorsing Tiahrt is it.”
