The Dance Pitt, owned and operated by Sydney Zortz and Sadie Thomas, opened in August and began putting together a team for competition back in September — winding up with 25 girls in the 6-17 age range.
The Dance Pitt has attended three events so far and its first was a regional competition and convention at Dance Makers Inc., Oklahoma City. This event involved classes during the day and competition at night.
The second competition attended was in Kansas City for Talent on Parade, involving some 36 studio and 900 dancers at the four-day event. The Dance Pitt next attended a Stage One regional in Tulsa and plans to attend one more competitive event in July.
Zortz said the Dance Pitt dancers have worked extremely hard this year and their accomplishments have been tremendous and will continue to grow.
Several events are coming up for the Dance Pitt: its first annual recital on June 22 at Memorial Auditorium, summer camps, tryouts for next year’s competition team held Aug. 7-11 and 2012-2013 classes begin Sept. 10.
