Habitat dedication
Habitat for Humanity of Crawford County will have a house dedication ceremony at 2 p.m. at 206 E. 25th.

This house, for Michelle McConnell and her family,  is the 12th house built by the affiliate and its first Apostles Build home.

An Apostles Build home is financed and constructed by 12 church entities. Each church is responsible for 1/12th of the cost of the house and also provides the volunteer help on one of the 12 work  days used to build the house.

The 12 participating churches are Community of Christ/South Broadway Baptist Church, Episcopal Diocese of  Kansas, Family Life Assembly of God, First Church of  the  Nazarene, First United Methodist Church, Our  Lady of Lourdes  Catholic Church, Pittsburg Presbyterian Church, Salvation Army of Pittsburg, St. John Lutheran Church, St. Peter’s  Episcopal Church, Trinity  Baptist Church and Zion Lutheran Church (Pittsburg)/Trinity Lutheran Church (Girard).

Other groups providing volunteers include  Sigma Phi  Epsilon, the staff of Meadowlark Elementary School and the Church of Jesus Christ  of  Latter Day Saints.

‘D’ Wild Ones
“D” Wild Ones will meet at 4 p.m. at Pizza Hut. Those attending  will hear from several candidates and discuss upcoming events.

All Democrats and independents are welcome.

Chicopee picnic
Chicopee  Foundation social committee will have a  “Summer Fling” indoor picnic for foundation members only at 4:30  p.m. at the Chicopee  Community Center.

The event will begin with live entertainment, followed by a catered meal which will be dine-in only with no carry-outs. There will be no charge for the gathering.
