EMPORIA — The Southeast Adrenaline 18U softball team won the Kansas Amateur Softball Association Girls’ 18C Fast Pitch State Championship last weekend at the Trusler Sports Complex on the campus of Emporia State.

The SE Adrenaline naturally finished as the only undefeated team in the field — posting wins over HAVOC (Wichita) 4-0, the Paola Heat 9-0, the Blue Aces (Grainfield) 5-4 and consecutive wins over Kryptonite (Derby), 10-3 and 9-0.

Final standings: SE Adrenaline (Columbus) 5-0; Kryptonite (Derby) 5-2; HAVOC (Wichita) 5-2; Blaze (Brookville) 3-2; Blue Aces (Grainfield) 1-2; Topeka Riptide 2-2; Alliance (Carbondale) 1-2; Fusion (Garden Plain) 1-2; Cobras (Caldwell) 0-2; Lady Warriors (Marion) 0-2; Paola Heat 1-2; Panthers-AE (Liberty) 0-2; Panthers-JW (Valley Center) 0-2.

This state championship places the SE Adrenaline in the ASA Fast Pitch Girls’ B 18U Northern National Championships — played in Bowling Green, Ky., on the four fields within Michael Buchanon Park.

Teams entered in the field include the Roselle Rampage, Louisville Magic, Missouri City Magic, the Agassiz Valley North Stars, Macon Travelers, Hancock Heat, Revolution Elite, Hegewisch Synergy, The Power, Dunlap Lightning and the Red Storm.

Pool play schedules will be finished Monday and posted later that night. Wednesday will bring registration and opening ceremonies at South Warren High School, near Buchanon Park. Pool play begins early Thursday morning. Championship play starts at pool play completion.

It’s over 500 miles and nearly 10 hours from Columbus to Bowling Green. The girls have been raising money all week to help pay for expenses through several different fundraising opportunities.

Attractions in Bowling Green include the National Corvette Museum, the Beech Band Amusement Park and Splash Lagoon, the Greenwood Mall, the Lost River Cave and Valley, Chaney’s Dairy Farm and the Bowling Green Hot Rods, a Minor League baseball franchise.
