More than 1,000 meals delivered

Volunteer drivers for the Meals on Wheels program delivered a total of 1,007 meals during September to elderly and disabled persons in Pittsburg, Opolis and Chicopee.

Via Christi Hospital Nutritional Services prepares the meals. Special diets are available upon request.

Volunteers delivering meals weekly were Bob and Donna Backes, Bill and Dorothy Baker, Jean Barber, Martha Baxter, Bob Buchanan, Ken and Jean Burbach, Leroy Davidson, Elwyn and Karen Davis, Kathy Ebbs, Bea Frevele, Golden LivingCenter, Gayle and Tom Greenwood, Tammy Grotheer, Tom Hammack, Dee Hough, Connie and Jim Huddleston, Terri Huelat, John and Bea Martel, Joan Miller, Lottie Mocnik, Mosaic, Patty Nicholas, Jin and Tony Perez, Bill and Cynthia Pfannenstiel, Pitsco Cares Team, Jean and Tony Simoncic, Karen Smith, Alice Thomas and Larry Vanderhoofven, Via Christi Village.

Part-time volunteers filling in for regular drivers were Bob and Donna Backes, Bill and Dorothy Baker, Bryant Bay, Mary Beitzinger, Diana Carter, Noretta Caldwell, Lori Clothier, Patty Cooke, Leroy Davidson, Elwyn Davis, Loretta Dalton, Tammy Grotheer, Tom Hammack, Becky Hudson, John and Shirley Knightly, Angie Lobmeyer, Gabby Murnan, Patty Nicholas, Don Noland, Karen Odgers, Guy Owings, Jane Park, Bill and Cynthia Pfannenstiel, Robert Purkey, Fran Smith, Karen Smith and Louie Stroup.

Substitute drivers are needed to fill in for regular drivers. Volunteers finish meal delivery routes in less than 90 minutes. Anyone wishing to volunteer or  needing to  place someone on the meal program may call the Meals on Wheels office at 231-4880.
