Cara M. Lloyd, 28 of Pittsburg was bound over for trial on 1st degree murder of her 14 month old child in Pittsburg District Court following the conclusion of the preliminary hearing that commenced on Aug. 7th.

Although the State rested its case in Aug., it was continued until Oct. 2nd at the request of Lloyd’s defense attorney in order to call a KBI special agent who was unavailable.

At the conclusion of the preliminary hearing, the Court found probable cause existed that Lloyd committed the offense.

The forensic pathologist Dr. Erik Mitchell previously testified that the cause of death was strangulation.  Crawford County Attorney Michael Gayoso, Jr., stated that the trial has been set for December 10th.

“Lloyd is being held in custody on a $500,000 cash/surety bond and as such we need to bring her case to trial within 90 days,” Gayoso stated.

The State alleges that the crime occurred on Oct. 29, 2011 in Frontenac.  Lloyd is presumed innocent until and unless a jury finds her guilty.
