PITTSBURG —
Two recent accidents in Crawford County left vehicles in ruin but no one injured.
The most recent was a rollover collision that occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of Eighth and Pine Streets.
Bystanders on the scene said they did not see the wreck, but reported hearing a loud crashing sound. According to the collision report from the Pittsburg Police Department, Aaron Carroll, 24, Pittsburg, was traveling east on Eighth Street in his 2004 Toyota Camry and ran the stop sign at the intersection, hitting a Honda CRV driven by Marcia Semones, 56, Pittsburg. The collision caused minor damage to Carroll’s car, but caused Semones’ vehicle to roll onto its top. Both Carroll and Semones were treated on the scene, though first responders were forced to use the Jaws of Life to remove Semones from her vehicle. The collision is currently being investigated by the Pittsburg Police Department. The Pittsburg Fire Department and Crawford County EMS also responded.
The other accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, Sept. 30. According to a report from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, 44-year-old Allen D. Draper Jr., of 612 Copperleaf Lane in Frontenac, was westbound on 560th Street about a half mile west of U.S. Highway 69 when a deer crossed in front of his 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix. Draper swerved to miss the deer and lost control of the vehicle, which came to rest on its side in the south ditch. Draper was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
