Huston and Ruth Sims along with friends and family will be celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday June 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the home of their daughter Terri Harley at 315 S. Summit, Girard. If the weather is too hot or rainy the party will be moved to the Girard Bible Church at 204 Northern Ave., Girard. Huston Cordell Sims, Jr. and Helen Ruth Ashmore were married in Wichita, Kansas June 27, 1947 and had three daughters Linda Sims, Terri (Maurice) Harley and Debra Sims. Living the majority of their lives in Girard, Huston was employed at Sauer’s Appliance, Girard, Helio Aircraft, Pittsburg and retired in 1994 from Pittsburg State University. Ruth was employed at Western Insurance, Ft Scott and then retired from the Crawford County Abstract, Girard in 1994. The couple requests no gifts.
