Luke Lee, Pittsburg High School senior, has been selected as the first recipient of the Dylan Meier “get busy livin’” Memorial Scholarship.
“As the name so aptly describes, Dylan did a lot of livin’ during his 26 short years and exhibited a true zest for life,” said Merle Clark, PHS coach. “He loved his family and friends and embraced those relationships. He was passionate about life.”
Clark added that Lee, with his “always present smile and positive attitude” also embraces “livin’.”
Lee has demonstrated his passion for sports by being a four-year participant in football, basketball and track while at PHS. He kindled relationships as a three-year volunteer helping with Special Olympics. He was also a member of the Spanish and Science Clubs, and plans to continue his track career at the collegiate level.
Lee is the son of LaTonya Lee.
A celebration of Dylan Meier’s life will be held with a 5K fun run/walk and get-together at 10 a.m. May 7 at Hutchinson field. Anyone wishing additional information may visit www.getbusylivin.org.
