BALDWIN CITY — Pittsburg High School track opened its season Friday in the Baldwin Invitational. The girls placed fourth with 71 points and the boys 12th with 37 points.

On the girls side, Chelsea Baker won first in the high jump (5-0) and the triple jump (35-9). Lauren Ouderkirk won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 49.88 and took sixth in the long jump (16-4). Sarah Jewett placed third in the long jump (16-9) and fourth in the 800 (2:38.00).

McKenzie Spresser took home third in triple jump (34-.75). Brianna Maxwell took fourth in discus (107-7) and eighth in shot put (34-4.75). Ashley Willis placed sixth in discus (104-6) and Mariah Forrest seventh (103-8).

The 4x100 relay team finished third (52.64) and the 4x8 placed fifth (11:19.42).

On the boys side, Marcus Striplin won first in the long jump (22-3.5), second in the triple jump (42-6.25) and sixth in the 200 (24.19). Braden Brown took seventh in the pole vault (9-6), Dakota Taylor fifth in the discus (131-8) and Gershom Avalos eighth in the shot put (43-7.5).
