Betty Kunshek, a teacher in the Frontenac USD 249 district since 1968, will retire at the end of this school year.

Kunshek's letter of resignation was presented Monday to the Board of Education, which "reluctantly" accepted.

The following is an excerpt from Kunshek's resignation letter:

"Throughout the years I was blessed with an awesome school family…students, parents, teachers, all staff, administration and school board members. They made me proud that I taught at Frontenac and learned so much from so many. I think I was so fortunate to teach in the same school for forty years. I saw my students go full circle."
