A fire heavily damaged a Cherokee residence over the holidays.
According to a report from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a report of a structure fire at the home of Bobby and Tammy Fleck at 506 S. Vine in Cherokee on Sunday, Dec. 30.
Sheriff’s deputies and first responders from the Cherokee and Sheridan Township Fire Departments, as well as Crawford County EMS, responded to the fire. Upon arrival they found the northwest corner of the house completely engulfed in flames. The homeowner was alone at the residence at the time of the fire but was not injured.
The residence sustained significant damage to the northwest corner, and the rest of the house sustained serious smoke and water damage. The fire is still under investigation.
A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cherokee United Methodist Church Thursday to raise money for the Flecks. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children.
