Senior exercise
Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin, will offer a senior exercise class at 8:30 a.m.
Sponsored by Girard Medical Center, the session offers simple movements and stretching to help with upper and lower body strength, cardiovascular and overall health. Anyone needing additional information may call the center at 231-9773.
Kiwanis Club
Pittsburg Kiwanis Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. The program will be presented by John Lair, Special Olympics coach, and Chevi Peters, a gold medalist Special Olympics athlete who has been involved in the Global Messenger Program and was chosen the Most Inspirational Athlete at the 40th Kansas Special Olympics Summer Games in 2011.
Sharon Barone will give the invocation, and Larry Graham will be cashier. Tim Metcalf will serve as greeter.
USD 248 board
GIRARD — Girard USD 248 Board of Education will have a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the board office. A work session will precede the meeting at 6 p.m.
Agenda will include approval of a $2,500 donation from Pitsco through the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas and a $10,000 anonymous donation and a report on the strategic plan update.
School skate
Westside, Meadowlark and Lakeside Elementary Schools will have school skates from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lowe’s Skateway.
Phi Kappa Chapter
Phi Kappa Chapter, Phi Tau Omega sorority, will have a business session at 7 p.m. in the Pittsburg High School family and consumer science classroom.
Items to be discussed include initiation, fundraising and Founder’s Day.

TOPS KS 0884 meets every Thursday at Knights of Columbus Towers, 700 N. Pine.
Weigh-in will begin at 9 a.m., with the business session following at 9:30 a.m.
