The Girard City Council approved a revamped design for the Roye facility during a regular meeting Monday.
However, council members did call for two alterations to the re-design, which was prepared by Zingre and Associates, Fort Scott, at a cost of $600.
City administrator Gary Emry said the re-design including shifting some space on the north end of the facility at 102 N. Ozark.
The former business building, gifted to the city, has been gutted and plans call for it to be remodeled to include areas for the Girard Chamber of Commerce and a civic portion.
“This gives the Chamber of Commerce a little more space and adds a little more to the public use meeting room,” Emry said. “The design also shifts the restrooms around.”
He had an issue about the location of the mechanical room, which will include a mop sink.
“I think the mechanical room is in an unworkable space,” Emry said.
The council moved to accept the re-design, with the requests that the men’s restroom be moved to the north and the mechanical room be located nearer the kitchen.
The council also approved a pay-out in the amount of $99,900 to TWS Inc., Lebo, for sludge removal from Wastewater Lagoon No. 1. The firm bid $111,000 for cleaning all three of the city’s lagoons.
Council members also approved an agreement with Labette Community College.
“They provide continuing education services for the Girard Police and Fire Departments,” said mayor Maurice Harley.
