Pittsburg Public Library will offer seven computer classes, open free to the public, during June.

No registration or sign-up is required. When class attendance is high, computers may not be available for all participants, but classroom exercises and demonstrations are projected for easy viewing. During classes, lab computers are unavailable for general use.

Anyone needing additional information may call the PPL Computer Lab at 620-230-5559.

Classes scheduled are as follows:
Social Networking: Facebook and Twitter — 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 5. This class provides an introduction to today’s most popular social network services, Facebook and Twitter. Library staff can help those attending set up a new account or make the most of their existing social network pages.

Multitasking with Windows 7 — 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 7. This hands-on class will teach participants to multitask with snapping, peeking, snipping and more.

Microsoft PowerPoint for Beginners — 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 12. Participants will learn how to use Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 to create slideshow presentations with text, photos, clip art and more. Those attending will make their own slideshow presentation during the class.

Microsoft Windows 7 — 2 to 3:30  p.m. June 14. Participants will learn the skills necessary to navigate and use the Windows 7 operating system efficiently and confidently, including how to maximize new features, customize the desktop and efficiently store, locate and search for files.

Digital Camera Tricks and Tips — 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 19. Participants should bring their digital camera and learn how to preview photos they have taken, navigate through the different functions on the camera, adjust camera settings and modes and adjust video settings.

Editing Digital Photos — 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 21. This hands-on class will cover the basics of photo editing using Windows Live, and participants will learn to crop, edit, remove red eye and more. They will have the opportunity to work on a number of digital photos, and library staff will show how to download this free software to their home computers.

Microsoft Excel — 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 26. Participants will learn the basics of Microsoft Excel, including setting up a spreadsheet, entering information and creating simple formulas. Excel can be used for bookkeeping, accounting, inventory, address books and more.
