Dear editor,

I want to thank the Morning Sun for your coverage of the local Memorial Day services. I want to thank you for printing the article about my brother, Raymond W. Stewart. I would also like to thank the Hutchinson-Sayer American Legion Post 176 of Mulberry for honoring the memory of my brother at their Memorial Day services. Mulberry was never the same as several of our loved ones no longer walked the streets of our fair town. They no longer met at the local swimming hole or the football field. I know the Dave Sayer family lost two sons in WWII, Mulberry had several war heroes, but lives were changed and dreams were shattered. A letter written to my parents from Daryl Parson, a lifelong friend and fellow serviceman of my brother wrote my parents that Raymond died honorable and for a good cause. Daryl also fought in the war and he could say that so who are we to question. I am thankful for the freedom we have in American and I do realize that it was not free. I am praying that the freedom that these men fought and gave their life for will never be taken or given away. Thanks to all veterans and to God who has blessed America.
