Bourbon County to host Fine Arts contest

Bourbon County Arts Council has announced details of its 21st annual Fine Arts Competition and Exhibit.

The mixed media competition is open to artists 16 and older. Categories include painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, drawing and graphics, mixed media, pastels and photography.

There will be an entry fee of $7.50 per item. Deadline is March 4. Entry forms may be requested by calling 620-223-6159.

Cash awards totaling $1,550 will be made for best of show, first place winners in each category and a popular vote winner.

The exhibit will open March 13 with a reception for participating artists and the juror at the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center on the campus of Fort Scott Community College. The exhibit will remain on public view through March 15.
