Pittsburg Public Library will offer six free public computer classes during February.
No registration or sign-up is required. When attendance is high, computers may not be available for all participants, but classroom exercises and demonstrations will be projected for easy viewing. Individuals with laptops are welcome to bring them to class.
During classes, lab computers will not be available for general use. Anyone needing additional information may call the library at 231-8110. Computer classes scheduled are as follows:
Computer for Beginners — 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 5. Students will learn about basic computer components and gain experience navigating the Windows operating system and the Internet.
Microsoft Windows 7 — 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 7. This hands-on course takes a unique approach to teaching the skills necessary to navigate and use the Windows 7 operating system efficiently and confidently.
Introduction to eBay — 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 12. This class will explain how eBay, the world’s largest auction site, works, and talk about buying and selling. Staff will also help participants register for a free eBay user account.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 14. This class will cover the basics of Microsoft Excel, including setting up a spreadsheet, entering information and creating simple formulas. Those attending should have the ability to use a mouse and keyboard, but beginners are welcome.
eReader Workshop — 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 19. This workshop is for those who would like to know what’s available at PPL for use on their eReader. Those who own an eReader, tablet, iPad or other device should bring it to the program, along with their PPL library card.
Cut, Copy & Paste, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Participants will learn how to cut, copy and paste text, photos and graphics, as well as files and folders. Those attending should have the ability to use a mouse and keyboard, but beginners are welcome.
