Pittsburg State University pole vaulter Colbie Snyder was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Snyder posted the second-best mark in NCAA Division II in the pole vault Saturday while capturing the individual title in the discipline at the Oklahoma Baptist University Invitational held on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. He cleared 5.10 meters, or 16 feet, 8.75 inches, in picking up the win. The performance was a season-best for Snyder, who finished as the national runner-up in the event as a junior in 2012.
The 5-10 senior vaulter is a native of Joplin, where he competed at Joplin High School.
