To Whom It May Concern,
Pittsburg High School hosted one of the KSHSAA 4A Regional Wrestling Tournaments for the first time [Feb. 15-16] and it was a great success with compliments to be heard from participants, coaches and spectators. The facilities were clean and well maintained during the weekend thanks to our custodial staff, the matches ran smoothly because of our table workers and support staff, the gate workers remained pleasant during the long days and numerous questions about gate prices set by KSHSAA, the PHS kitchen made their famous snicker doodles & no bakes that were a great hit in the hospitality room and the light show for the finals matches made a special memory for each participant. The support of the PHS administrators and staff could be seen during the 2 day event by looking at the crowd and seeing them there cheering on our wrestlers. The support of the wrestling parents and the Friends of Wrestling Boosters was evidenced by their presence and assistance with the hospitality room.
We graduated nearly half of our varsity squad from last year with six seniors moving on, four of whom had been on Varsity since their sophomore year and two since they were freshmen, two Seniors were State Champions last year and one was a two time State Champion. Needless to say these were very big wrestling shoes to fill and we qualified 6 wrestlers that traveled to Salina to represent the Dragons.
I would like to say thank you to all of you that helped make this event such a wonderful success and for showing what an event looks like when done right and hosted by Pittsburg High School.
Congratulations to our State Team and their coaches and GO DRAGONS!
Sincerely
Joan Fields
