With all precincts reporting to the Kansas Secretary of State's Office — minus absentee ballots — Senate District 13 Republican candidate Jacob LaTurner, of Pittsburg, defeated incumbent Bob Marshall, of Fort Scott, by 3,790 votes to 2,835, a difference of 955 votes.

"We are just thrlled," LaTurner said. "We have the most dedicated volunteers working for us. They believed in us and worked so hard. This is a great night."

Marshall said he had phoned to congratulate LaTurner on the win and to wish him good luck in the upcoming Senate race against Democrat Gene Garman in the November general election.

"I want to thank the citizens of District 13 and was proud to serve them," Marshall said. "I wish only the best for them."
