PSU catcher wins All-Star MVP
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pittsburg State incoming sophomore catcher Ian Robinson found a most opportune time for a 2-for-2 night at the plate, a run scored and one RBI.

His solid night came during the Ban Johnson All-Star Game, played Sunday at Kauffman Stadium after the Kansas City Royals defeated the Texas Rangers 7-6 in 10 innings as the Royals averted a three-game sweep thanks in part to costly Rangers errors. The Royals have played the role of host to the Ban Johnson All-Star Game 44 times.

Robinson singled in the third, leading off the inning against Regal Plastics pitcher Jacob Stevenson. He would come around to score on a double by BJ Raiders outfielder Anthony Saladino.

Robinson collected his RBI on a double in the fourth, scoring Bandits Baseball outfielder Austin Evans.

The B All-Stars won the game 5-0 and Robinson earned MVP for being in the middle of two scoring rallies.

Robinson, a 2010 graduate of Bishop Miege High School (Shawnee Mission) who played his summer ball for Natural Baseball Academy, hit .208 with a double and three RBI during his freshman year in 2011. He made 14 starts that season and went 2-for-3 in his collegiate debut against Bethany College. Robinson did not play a game in 2012.
