Amateurs and student actors should not be allowed onstage at Memorial Auditorum unless they are wearing a wireless microphone and the system is hooked up for full gain audeo. Too many well-staged productions have been swallowed by that faciltiy because untrained voices will not carry beyond the first three rows of seats. Sorry to say, it happened agaiin with HMS Pinafore.

Gilbert & Sullivan are nothing if not language! Rapturously silly and subtle satire is lost unless every syllable is bounced off the back wall. Alas...the curse of modern theatre practice is mumbling and sotto-voce utterance...presumably to respect "realism."

Bah! Humbug! The first responsibility of an actor is to be heard! Speak up cast...unless you are playing for your own amusement!

Otherwise...good show!
