PITTSBURG —
The Friends of the Pittsburg Public Library want to thank everyone who helped make the Friends Book Lovers’ book sale, which was held February 23, a success. Because of the books donated, the patrons who purchased books and the help of our volunteers the sale brought in over $2,000 which will be used to support programming and special needs of the Pittsburg Public Library.
The Friends accept donations of books, audio books, DVDs, videos and CDs. Please bring your donations to the circulation desk anytime that the library is open for regular hours.
In addition to the two book sales (February and Labor Day weekend) the Friends sell books year round on the second floor of the library in the computer room. It is stocked weekly, so go by and browse. You can find mystery, fiction, science fiction, history, religion, self-help, nonfiction, western, romance, military, history, sports, travel, cookbooks, children and youth and young adult books and also videos. Everything costs either fifty cents or one dollar.
Another way to support the Friends, and your public library, is become a member of the Friends. A membership will cost as little as $5.00 for an individual. As a member you receive our newsletter twice a year and entry to the “preview” sale Friday night of our Labor Day sale, which is for members only. In addition, being a member of the Friends of Pittsburg Public Library gives you a good feeling knowing you are supporting our wonderful library.
