I wish to applaud the letter "Exclude I/DD from KanCare" from Luke Bunch that appeared in the March 12 edition of the Morning Sun.  Mr. Bunch hit the nail on the head with his comments.  The I/DD system received a one-year "carve out" (exemption) from KanCare, but is scheduled to be included starting in 2014.  However, nothing has changed that justifies its inclusion in KanCare at any time.  I will not expand more on the reasons or rationale for carve out beause Mr. Bunch did an excellent job of that.  Based on the much publicized problems with KanCare incurred by the medical care providers, how can the I/DD service providers assume that they will not also be faced with the same problems, primarily denials in payments, delays in payments, denials of services provided, etc..  There is little comfort to be found in the assurances  that the "bumps in the road" will be resolved-most i/DD service providers simply cannot afford even one small "bump in the road".
