Dear Editor:
I live in Girard, Ks and I attempted to vote in the recent Primary Election. I am an Independent or “Unaffiliated” voter. I was handed a democratic ballot and when I asked why, I was told I could go back thru the line and register as a Republican and I could then vote Republican. Wow. Just what I wanted to do. I don’t want to be “labeled” with either of those parties. The law needs to be changed. I believe there are a “lot” of people like me who couldn’t vote their preferences. I did not vote at all, I left boiling mad at the system. I apologize to the very nice ladies manning the poll. (Don Pyle-”Maybe 30% are unaffiliated and maybe felt left out”) Ha! You Think?
I had previously checked on filing for the position of County Sheriff. Again, the laws/regulations make that very hard, particularly if one is “Unaffiliated”. Check it out, it is ridiculous.
I am hereby declaring myself a write-in candidate for the office of County Sheriff of Crawford County. This will probably be the extent of my campaigning. I will leave it up to the Power of the People. If they have any left!
I do have a birth certificate from the State of Kansas. Over 30 years Law Enforcement/Security Management Experience.
Vote in November. In God We Trust; God Bless America.
Sincerely,
Steve Marshall
