Senior exercise

A weekly free senior exercise group will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin.

Sponsored by Girard Medical Center, the session offers simple movements and stretching to help with upper and lower body strength, cardiovascular and overall health. Anyone needing additional information may call the center at 231-9773.

Caregivers breakfast

A breakfast club for Alzheimer’s caregivers will meet at 9 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

The group offers an opportunity for caregivers to talk with those who share similar issues while having a free breakfast. Anyone may attend who serves as a caregiver for a person with Alzheimer’s or a similar dementia.

Anyone wishing to register or needing additional information may call the Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Kansas Regional Office, Parsons, at 620-421-6550, ext. 1794.

Cherokee Senior Citizens

CHEROKEE — Cherokee Senior Citizens will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Cherokee Community Building.

Angels Home Health Care staff will be present to give wellness checks for those who want them.

A lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and chips will be served at noon. Those who wish may bring a side dish or dessert.

Kiwanis Club

Pittsburg Kiwanis Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. Speaker will be Mark Mehall, new operations manager at the Southeast Kansas Recycle Center.

Greeter will be Joe Beauchamp, and Angela Radell will serve as cashier. Richard Hudson will give the invocation.

Foot clinic

Via Christi Home Health will offer a free foot clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin.

Services offered will include soaking, trimming and massaging of the feet. Anyone needing additional information may call the center at 231-9773.

Low Vision Group

Pittsburg Low Vision Support Group meeting for Aug. 16 has been canceled.  Next meeting will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at Via Christi Village.

McCune Alumni

McCune Alumni Steering Committee will meet at Chicken Mary’s. Dinner and fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m., with a business session following. Frank Page, president, will preside.

Plans will be finalized for the all-school reunion on Sept. 22 at the McCune Attendance Center. The 1962 alumni will be recognized in honor of their 50th anniversary during the 2 p.m. program. Also honored will be Laura Stewart and Marion Kutz, graduates and active alumni members.

Cash prizes of $100, $50 and $25, compliments of the steering committee, will be awarded. Chances are $1 or six for $5, and are available at the McCune Bank or from committee members.
A catered banquet will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the McCune Community Center. Cost will be $12.50 per person. Seating is limited and reservations are required by Sept. 15. They should be sent to Kathy Stewart, P.O. Box 122, McCune, Kan., 66753.

TOPS KS 0884 meets every Thursday at Knights of Columbus Towers, 700 N. Pine.

Weigh-in will begin at 9 a.m., with the business session following at 9:30 a.m.
