Harley reception
Maurice and Terri Harley, Girard, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary from 6:30 to 8:30 p.. at the Girard Public Library.
The couple requests no gifts.
Clothing give-away
A community clothing give-away will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Zion Lutheran Church.
Available will be a variety of good used and some new clothing for men, women and children for school, work and play. Included will be shirts, sweaters, slacks, jeans, sweatshirts, suits, blouses, skirts, dresses, coats, nightwear and shoes. A limited amount of purses, bedding, household items, toys, games, books and miscellaneous items will also be available.
All will be free for the taking.
Veterans service officer
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host an accredited veterans service officer with Chapter 317, Vietnam Veterans of America.
He will be at the post home from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Anyone wishing to make an appointment may call 231-2240.
Xi Pi Chapter
Xi Pi Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, will have Beginning Day, with members asked to meet at 10 a.m. at Meadowbrook Mall to caravan to Sandstone Gardens for brunch and shopping.
Officers for the coming year are: Charlotte Barnett, president; Mary Beitzinger, vice president; Sandi Morrison, secretary; Carolyn Eichhorn, corresponding secretary; Sharon Starr, City Council representative; and Nancy Close, City Council alternate.
Noon feed
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will have its monthly noon feed for members only from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the post home.
Arma dinner
ARMA — Arma United Methodist Church will sponsor a homecoming dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church basement.
Menu will feature fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, salad, dessert and beverage. Cost will be $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Carry-outs will be available.
The church will also sponsor a silent auction from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church basement. Items will include sports memorabilia, baseball tickets and a weekend in Kansas City.
Spaghetti dinner
ARMA — Arma American Legion Post 182 will serve a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. in conjunction with the Arma VJ Homecoming.
There will be no dinner served on Aug. 25.
