Inurnment and memorial services for George J. Martisus, who died June 24, 2009, will be held at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Scammon, KS at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009 with Fr. Chris Ah Maung officiating. Friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery.

George was born October 14, 1918 in Alton, IL the son of George and Anna Martisauskas. His mother died when he was about 4 years of age and his father, not being able to care for four small children, put them all in a Catholic children’s home in Alton. George was raised there and after high school made his way west. He was a fine man of gentle nature, self educated on many subjects and unselfishly took care of needy friends.

George married Bena Fragnella Bargiel in Reno, NV on September 21, 1985. They spent their years together in Pittsburg, Cherokee and finally in Weir, KS. Bena died on January 3, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his three sisters Adele Martisauskas, Ann M. Ellis and Sister Victoria Martisauskas; a 2nd cousin Kathy Boyle died in October.

He is survived by a cousin, Jeannie Campbell of Dalton, MA, Bena’s nephew and his wife John and Ann Fragnella of Tunbridge, VT, extended family and his dear friends John and Francis Thompson of Weir, KS.
