Marye S. Botkin, of Pittsburg, Kan., died 10:35 a.m. Thursday October 30, 2008 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.
Marye was born January 30, 1915 in Cherokee, the daughter of Henry and Sylvia (Lahey) Jones.  Marye attended area schools and graduated from Crawford Community High School in Cherokee.  She attended Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg.  On July 16, 1948 she married Jack Botkin at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Chicopee.  He preceded her in death on October 30, 1980.  Marye taught school in Fleming and Chicopee.  She was Travel and Tour Manager for Continental Trailways in Wichita, Kan., for 30 years.  She later obtained the Franchise for Continental Trailways in Pittsburg. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg.  She also was a Pink Lady with the hospital and was known as the family matriarch that loved and cherished her family.
Survivors include sisters Sylvia Morrison of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sharon Merciez and husband Louis of Coweta, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David Botkin; sisters Alice Boyer and Kathryn Pfister; and brothers Wayne Jones and Bill Jones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday November 3, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, with Fr. Thomas Stroot as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg.  Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday November 2, 2008 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg.  Family will receive friends following the rosary.  Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Sunday.  In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund.  E-mail condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.  Arrangements and services are by Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg.
