Christopher Alcantar, 58, of Pittsburg, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2012 at his home.
He was born August 1, 1953 at Independence, Kansas, the son of Manuel and Mary V. (Lira) Alcantar. He graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Parsons.
Mr. Alcantar owned and operated Liberty Cleaners in Pittsburg. He also served as a police officer for the City of Pittsburg and a deputy for the Crawford County Sheriffs’ Department.
He enjoyed playing competitive softball and coaching Little League in the Pittsburg area.
Survivors include his daughter, Samantha Alcantar of Pittsburg; two brothers, Raymond Alcantar of Pittsburg and Stephen Alcantar of Shawnee Mission, KS; two sisters, Gina Bowes of Topeka, KS and Melanie Ward of Parsons, KS; and two grandchildren, Bailey and McKenzie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Peyden Tomas Alcantar.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday (June 18) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Dan Moss officiating. The family suggests memorials to Angels Among Us.
