CHANUTE —

Dr. James William Kensett, 82, of Chanute passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Chanute Healthcare Center.
Jim was born in Lawrence, Kansas on February 17, 1926, the son of James William Kensett Sr., and Cora (Rose) Kensett. 
He was united in marriage to Lenore Brownlee on August 29, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jim served his country during World War II as a USN Aviation Cadet.
Along with his wife Lenore, Jim is survived by his children, James W. Kensett III of Las Vegas, NV; Susan McGaughey of Olathe, KS, Marilyn Crawford of Shawnee, KS,  and Carolyn Kensett of Chanute; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons, and a sister, Betty Edgar of Hutchinson, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church.  Cremation will take place at a later date.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 11, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel.
Memorials in his name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church and may be left with the funeral home.
Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
