Melvin O. Worley, age 87, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at his home.
Melvin was born October 9, 1921 at Mammoth Springs, Arkansas to Silas & Nellie (Flynn) Worley.  He served his country in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945.
On September 19, 1942 he married Eileen Withrow at Nevada, Missouri.  He and Eileen moved to Lamar in 2005 from Mindenmines, Missouri, where they were owned and operated Minden Service Company for many years.
He was a member of Nashville Christian Church as well as the American Legion.
Melvin is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years; one son and his wife, Jerry and Cathy Worley, of Lamar; three daughters and their husbands, Gracie and Don Wolf, of Liberal,  Gayle and Douglas Monroe, of Oronogo, and Anne Worley of Joplin, MO; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Monroe, Toni Morgan, Margo Dawson, Summer Abts, Jason Wolf, Jayna Beebe, Heather Williams, &  Allison Worley; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday at Nashville Christian Church. Burial will be at Worsley Cemetery near Bronaugh, MO.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home.
Contributions can be made to the Nashville Christian Church or Regional Hospice in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
