Roberta Lee Cicero, 68 of Pittsburg, passed away, Tuesday, June 30, 2008 at her home.  She had been in failing health since 2004.
She was born March 31, 1941 in Eureka, KS the daughter of Ottie and Virginia (Pennington) Smith.  She attended area schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School with the Class of 1959; she then went on to the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing where she graduated in 1962.
On August 22, 1964 she was united in marriage to Richard Cicero at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac; he survives her of the home.
Roberta was raised by her grandparents Walter and Clara Pennington and an aunt Ruby Dyke, they all precede her in death.
After graduating from nursing school she started her surgical nursing career at Mt. Carmel Hospital, known today as Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.  She dearly loved taking care of her patients, which she did for nearly thirty years.
Survivors include a son Rick Cicero of Frontenac, and a daughter Renee Cicero of Pittsburg, Five grandchildren Cody and Damian Cicero of Pittsburg, Angel, Amanda and Anna Cicero of Frontenac and a great grandson Gabe of Pittsburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Spencer as Celebrant.  Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.  Parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where the family will receive friends after the rosary.  Friends may also call at their convenience after 3 p.m. at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac.  Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.  Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; these may be left at or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS  66762.
