Betty Jean Clark Youvan, 80, of Franklin died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at her home.
Mrs. Youvan was born May 20, 1930, at Pittsburg, Kan., the daughter of Cranston Lafon Clark and Fern Endicott Clark. She attended Pittsburg schools. Betty married Joe A. Youvan on Jan. 13, 1953, at Washington County, Arkansas. Mr. Youvan survives at the home. She dedicated her life to the love and care of her husband Joe, daughter Deborah, and her grandchildren. Betty was Joe’s “right-hand man,” helping him raise horses, cattle and farm throughout their 57 years together. She prided herself in her home and was an excellent cook, specializing in treats to satisfy her husband’s sweet tooth. Being the great cook that she was, she was delighted to help her granddaughters with fair projects. Her touch made all occasions special. Betty is survived by her husband Joe, daughter Deborah Schaub along with her husband John; her grandchildren and their families: Jeana Kotzman and her husband Desi and great-grandsons, Drake and Drew Kotzman; Joe Schaub and his wife Kelly and step-great-grandson Dylan Toal; and her youngest granddaughter, Joane Schaub. She also has a brother, Jim Clark and his wife Ann of Wichita, and a niece, Ann Marie DeJong and family of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons who died at birth and a beloved niece, Susan Clark Maffei.
Private graveside services will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery with Pastor Roy Widmar officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma.
