Josephine M. Guy, 87, of Walnut, Kansas, died at 7:50 P.M., Saturday, February 6, 2010 in the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul, Kansas where she entered in December of 2009.
She was born July 2, 1922 at Walnut, a daughter of Orville and Mabel (Craig) Lowe. She attended high school for three years in Stark, Kansas and graduated from Savonburg High School in Savonburg, Kansas.
She married Lloyd B. Guy on December 30, 1939 at Lamar, Missouri. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December. He survives of the home.
She was a farm wife and they were lifelong farmers at rural Walnut.
She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening and raising chickens.
She was a Christian.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Lloyd, of the home, are daughters Diantha Lusebrink and husband Richard of Queen Creek, Arizona, Donna Gillard and husband Little of Girard, Kansas and Linda Sartin of Girard; a son, James Guy and wife Elaine of Walnut; grandchildren are Greg Fager, Michelle (Guy) Robinson, Brian Guy, Johnna (Stolte) Roland, Andrew Stolte, Jolene (Roberts) Batalia, Jessica (Roberts) Johnson, and William Sartin ; great-grandchildren are Patrick Fager, Edwin Fager, Cole Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Carson Roland, Avery Roland, Samantha Guy, Ben Guy, Charles Johnson, Eli Johnson, Caleb Johnson, and Aiden Batalia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Lowe; sisters Ruby Watts, Ferrol Kelsey, Nola Nelson, Hazel Brooks, Dixie Chincella, and Dorothy Conner; a grandson, David Fager and a granddaughter, Julia Roberts.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 1:00 P.M., Wednesday. Mrs. Guy will then be cremated and family graveside services will be in the Bethel Cemetery near Erie, Kansas at a later date.
