Dorles Marie (Miller) Cannady, 80, Yates Center, Kansas, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Windsor Place at Iola, where she had been recuperating from hip surgery.
She was born August 25, 1928 at St. Paul, Minn., to Edward K. and Bertha (Bilka) Miller. She grew up in Minnesota and attended school there. On January 9, 1952, she was married to Daniel Webster “Barney” Cannady at Mason City, Iowa. They moved to Yates Center, Kansas, where she resided the rest of her life.
She was a mother and worked as a CMA at the nursing home in Yates Center for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Yates Center. She enjoyed bargain hunting at garage sales, and loved to play bingo and slots.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 6, 1995; by a son, Dennis Cannady, on April 19, 2008, by a granddaughter, Karen Kinyon, and by her four sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by a son, Daniel “Woody” Cannady and his wife Sherry of Iola; four daughters, Danelle Stokes of Joplin, MO, Deanna Narcih and husband George of Iola, Denise Hughes and husband Earl of Pocatello, ID, and Elaine Depew of Chanute; and by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside committal services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Yates Center Cemetery. The family will proceed to First Baptist Church in Yates Center for family memorial services at 11 a.m. and will gather with friends at the church afterwards.
The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
