Joan M. Gladson, 82, of Girard, Kansas died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at her residence in Girard.
She was born July 2, 1926 in Stark, Kansas, the daughter of John and Angie (Ermy) Heitman. She grew up and attended school in Stark and graduated from Walnut High School in Walnut, Kansas. She attended business college in Kansas City.
She married Jack D. “Jake” Gladson on August 6, 1944 in Girard. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2004.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Producer’s Coop, Farm Bureau, and at the Crawford County courthouse, all in Girard.
She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, both of Girard.
She enjoyed Bingo, crocheting, quilting, gardening, and table games.
Survivors are sons Robert “Bob” Gladson and Trisha of Girard, Jimmy R. Gladson of Canton, Mississippi; and Jack D. Gladson, Jr. and Nicki of Chanute, Kansas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers John Heitman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jack Heitman of Arma, Kansas, and Fred Heitman of Walnut; sisters, her twin, Jean Bolin of Girard, Barbara Matthews of Castleberry, Florida, and Rosemary Johnson of Henderson, Nevada.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Friends may call after 1:00 P.M., Sunday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
