Twilla M. Standlee, age 72, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Monday December 3, 2012, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Twilla was born on August 3, 1940 in Heplar, Ks., the daughter of the late Col. Walter and Helen (Johnson) Humble. She married Dan Standlee on June 29, 1963 in Pittsburg, Ks. She owned and operated Twilla's Salon of Beauty in Pittsburg. After moving to Joplin in 1968, she opened Hillside Beauty Nook. Her joys in life were spending time with her family and traveling.
She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Dan Standlee, Carl Jct., Mo.; one son David Standlee, Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Debbie Haralson and husband Jay, Carl Jct., Mo.; one brother, Walter “Bud” Humble and wife Connie, Girard, Ks.; four sisters, Norma Husarik, Chicago Heights, Il., Betty Kalusha and husband Don, Frontenac, Ks., Shirley Palmer, Leawood, Ks., and Saundra Schooley, Pittsburg, Ks.; one sister-in-law, Betty Wilkins, Frontenac, Ks., six grandchildren, Zachary, Jordan and Dylan Haralson, and Brett, Jackson and Teagon Standlee; and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Mein.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at College Heights Christian Church. Jay St. Clair, Minister will officiate. Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at 2:00 Saturday prior to the service at College Heights. Memorial contributions may be given to The Freeman Cancer Institute for the snack fund in care of the mortuary.
