Leah June Spear, 220 W. Washington, Arma, Kan., former resident of Iola, Kan., died Nov. 22, 2012, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. She was 53 years old.
She was born June 14, 1959, in Iola, the daughter of Lyle and Patricia Doyle.
She grew up in Iola, and was a graduate of Iola High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Cuppy Spear, and a son Jacob Spear.
Mrs. Spear was in nursing her whole life. She was a graduate of Fort Scott Community College in 2000. As a child, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iola.
She was a caring single mother, friend, and nurse to all who needed.
Survivors include her brother Lyle Jr. of Shawnee KS; a son Jeffery A. Spear of Lyons KS; two daughters Jessica R. Spear of Joplin MO, Sarah Jane Spear of Arma KS; seven grandchildren Bailey, Megan, Jeff Jr., Bethany, Brittney, Destiny and Hannah.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church by Katherine Bell on Dec. 15, 2012 at 11 am in Iola.
